I’ve started handling beardie Bassett everyday now to get him used to it. He’s going to need to be very comfortable being handled if my little two (3 and 4 years old) are to stand any chance to holding him when he’s a little older (and beefed up a bit!).

He was really comfy on my hand this morning. I gave him a bath and picked him up for while, but then he didn’t want to get back down. I grabbed my camera with my free hand which had my 50mm f1.4 attached (no chance of a lens change with dragon in hand). It doesn’t focus particularly close so I had to lean back a bit. I kept my hand inside the viv just incase he decided to jump. I think he’s getting used to the camera now – he pretty much sees it everyday!

If you look at the base of his tail you’ll see where he’s starting to shed – it’s not in focus, but it’s just visible.

The other close up shots don’t really give any idea of scale, but here you can see how tiny Bassett is. My hands are a decent size, but not huge.
